Normal Phenomenon - Danielle Dolan
January 2021, Lake Michigan
From the artist: “Lake Michigan pulls me to its shoreline at odd hours of the day and in all seasons. On this early February morning, I headed to the beach to behold the stillness of this Great Lake that had just frozen over—a seemingly normal phenomenon that I am enchanted with each winter. When I arrived, I was surprised to find a fresh layer of snow that had accumulated overnight on the lake's icy shell. Nothing but muted & monotonous blue-greys for as far as the eye could see, even blurring the horizon. Felt like some kind of reward to witness during a particularly rough winter, or maybe the lake was just showing off its charm.”
